Summit Door Inc., A Family History of Manufacturing Distinguished Wood Garage Doors

The Greenway family first became involved in the garage door industry in 1961, opening a sales, installation and service company for commercial and industrial garage doors in Los Angeles, CA. Seeking to meet the demands of the booming local real estate market, our family ventured into residential sales and installation in the late 1980s, opening another location in Orange County. During this time, the trends of the residential garage door industry dictated a shift from wooden tilt up doors to steel overhead applications. It was the design limitations of traditional steel sectional garage doors that inspired us to begin Summit Door.

From its inception, our company sought to create a garage door which combined both aesthetic appeal and function. Since then, Summit Door has become the industry-leader in the quality design and creation of customized wooden sectional garage doors. Today, we operate out of Corona, CA, serving customers world wide.

Behind every door is the heritage of our family business, spanning three generations of commitment, service, and quality of the highest standard. We look forward to helping you realize the garage door of your dreams. So, from our family to yours… Welcome to Summit Door.

The This Old House Weston project was designed to reflect the rustic look of an old New England barn. About 75 percent of the home was built in Bensonwood’s controlled workshop environment. These components were then assembled on site in Weston and, once the home was erected, Summit Door installed the garage doors.

The two handcrafted garage doors were designed to complement the barn-style architecture. The western red cedar doors were customized with trim and details on both the exterior and the interior of the garage door, making it a one-of-a-kind design. Powder coated track and hardware completed the doors for a more modern appeal with nylon rollers for a smoother and quieter ride.

Summit Door, Inc., is pleased to have been chosen as the garage door supplier for this exciting project. The This Old House Weston project is currently airing on PBS.
